WORKWORKWORKWORK...Travel...WORKWORKWORK... Travel... etc.

Work has been pretty intense for both of us lately, but we have made two recent trips in the midst of it all. We went to San Francisco to see Karin's aunt, then took the train to Truckee to go cross-country skiing at Northstar. We also went to New Orleans where the American Educational Research Conference was held. I went to a bunch of sessions (it's an exciting time in educational policy research - scary - but exciting) and we both enjoyed (or were at least amazed by) the French Quarter.

Greenie and "PaPaw"

Greenie and Orville (PaPaw) have become pretty good buddies. Orville is 14 and 1/2 years old this month. Greenie is going on 3 months.

Five Weeks Old

At five weeks old, the pups had their first outdoor experience. That's Beefer (above), the biggest at 8 lbs now, and the most outgoing.

Below are (from top to bottom):

• Brownie (a small guy, super cute)
• Floressa (an outgoing, vocal gal)
• Runty Joe, a.k.a. RJ (the smallest of the litter, and quick to the food bowl)
• Beefer and Ma (Lacy)
• Greenie (Karin's favorite)

Heat wave for fall break

We pulled the Scamp to the Florida panhandle.  It was hot and humid but it was fun to get away.

USPro Championships

We traveled to Greenville, SC for the USPro Cycling Championships.  Photos here of David Zabriskie (Garmin) and Tom Zirbel (Bissell) in the TT.  DZ won easily, covering the 20.7 mile course in 39'37".  George Hincapie (Columbia-HTC) won the next day's road race.  Photos here of DZ and Zirbel at the TT.  Also of DZ, who rode solo for the first half of the road race, building a 3 minute+ gap and of Hincapie and Bajadali (Kelly Benefits) at the crucial 300 meter mark before the finish.

Mount Rogers Trip, July 2009

Just got back from Mount Rogers, VA, including Grayson Highlands State Park.  First trip for the Scamp!  Here are a few photos.
